Gwyneth Pettit, MA, Dip.Ed, MBCS. Following a mathematics degree, entered computing through force constant computations at the University of Minnesota in 1960, and has since been active in commercial, educational and scientific computing, including CAD and project management.

Leslie Pettit, M.A., D.Phil., FRSC, C.Chem. Reader in Chemistry, University of Leeds, UK, until 1994. Member of the IUPAC Commission on Equilibrium Data 1978-91; Chairman 1987-91. IUPAC Analytical Division Committee Member 1991-2000. Joint author of over 120 papers and reviews in the field of stability constant measurement and evaluation.

Academic Software has been producing educational software since 1983. Release 1 of the IUPAC Stability Constants Database, SC-Database (first released in 1993) was produced with the cooperation of the IUPAC Commission on Equilibrium Data and the IUPAC Committee on Chemical Databases. The current version (Release 5) is compatible with all 32-bit versions of Windows (9x, NT, 2000, XP). Work is currently concentrated on the IUPAC Stability Constant Database.

Cooperating with Academic Software on SolEq, SC-Database and Mini-SCDatabase:

K.J.(Kip) Powell, Ph.D., D.Sc. F.D.(h.c.), is Professor of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. He has 35 years of teaching experience in inorganic and analytical chemistry. A member of the IUPAC Commission on Equilibrium Data 1987-99, and its chairman 1998-99, he is currently secretary of the Division of Analytical Chemistry and a member of the IUPAC Education Strategy Development committee. He is author of over 130 papers on the measurement and application of stability constants, with emphasis on environmental systems.
